bought some stuff from Benefit and I'm gonna try them out tomorrow.
Finally got "The Other Boleyn Girl" from a bookshop today. Been reading excerpt online... Retired to the room and been happily reading my book for the rest of the afternoon. Think I'm half way through the book already.

The Other Boleyn Girl is a period story set in 16th century England. Two sisters became the pawns in the dynastic plots of her family and were competing "for the greatest prize - the king's love". Think sisterly rivalry, betrayals, conspiracy, seduction and you get a rough picture of the novel.
If you're yawning, thinking this being another best-selling chick-lit rubbish, think again. The writer, Philippa Gregory, is no chick-lit writer. She holds a PhD in 16th century literature and offers much insights into the problem of gender-inequality during that period.
Highly readable if you don't mind period novels. The only minus is that I find the heroine Mary Boleyn too naive for a girl who's been brought up in court and too powerless as a mistress who's given the heir-less king a son. Possible? Maybe. Convincing? Not really.

I still prefer contemporary literature. Already eyeing on Michael Cunningham's Flesh & Blood... :)
Going to bed now
